Fethiye

years… The whole area starting from the Valley of Eşen is covered by the pine
forests and the southwest heights of the Mountains of Toros.

height of these mountains reaches to 2000 metres on the coasts. On the hot days

on the hills just behind the pine forests. On the falls of the forests, there is
a very rich flora that is another specification of Fethiye consisting of
thousands of plants from thyme to sage and from citrus fruits to shallaki
(günlük in Turkish) trees.

picnic area that covers 100 hectars of forest in the area. The oil of Günlük
(Shallaki) trees that is near to resin is used in pharmacy and cosmetics in
addition to its dried shells has importance as being material for fumigation
since ancient times… Fethiye has a specialities of a typical Mediterranian
climate.
The
average temperature of hot summer days is 30° C. The temperature is around 12° C
in the months of winter that is sometimes rainy. The temperature of the seawater
does not fall below 17° C during the winter. Nearly all of the mountains and
forests of Fethiye provide a rich and incorrupt variation of fauna and a rich
culture in its natural protection zone and excellent scenes.
Emigration to

farming is the biggest source of income in the Savanna of Fethiye that has

agricultural products such as cotton, sesame, tobacco and anise provide a great
contribution to the economy of the township. 250 thousand tonnes of greenhouse
and field tomatoes are produced and presented to internal and external markets
annually. Beekeeping and production of honey have also really high potentials.
Another richness of Fethiye is its being an important export center of chrome by
its mineral deposits that have 4. biggest chrome reserves of the world. The
conditions of climate let the production of nearly all of the vegetables and
fruits. Every Tuesday, producers and consumers come together in the bazaar of
township in a natural environment of shopping which is worth to be seen. The
